According to the autumn survey conducted by the German Medical Technology Association BVMed, the medtech industry is under pressure: in addition to the increase in personnel, energy and raw materials, there are the high costs of implementing the EU Medical Device Regulation MDR. Small and medium-sized companies, which make up 93 percent of the industry and are drivers of innovation, are the hardest hit. The innovation climate for medical technology in Germany only receives an average rating of 3.5. The federal association is calling for a MedTech Strategy 2030 with less bureaucracy and competitive regulation.
