The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has invested seven million euros from the Innovation Fund in a study to improve the quality of life of people with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAD). Nationwide, around 4.5 million people suffer from the disease. The group of participants received a fitness wristband and special training. The patients documented their training sessions in a diary app and health coaches then adapted the training plans accordingly. The participants who underwent the program showed a significant improvement in their walking ability and quality of life compared to the control group with conventional standard care.
