In addition to DiGAs, state-approved prevention apps are also reimbursed by statutory health insurance companies at 100 percent or for the most part. However, the procedure at the ZPP (Central Prevention Testing Center) has not yet persuaded many manufacturers to apply. MissionMe, a subsidiary of Gruner & Jahr, has just completed the certification process for its meditation exercise app Balloon – in accordance with Chapter 7, which has been in place since July 2021. Chapter 7 provides for more extensive data protection requirements and a scientific effectiveness study. Two other prevention apps that have already been ZPP-certified are currently completing their efficacy study in accordance with Chapter 7: The exercise app from the Stuttgart-based company AIMO and the sleep app from the Leipzig-based company Memento by ResMed. It remains to be seen how the still young market for reimbursable prevention apps will develop.
