Researchers from Atlanta have developed a new eye-tracking technology that can help detect autism in children using a tablet. The EarliPoint Evaluation technology is based on biomarkers for the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders and has already been approved by the FDA for use in children between 16 and 30 months of age. The technology includes a portable tablet on which the children watch videos of social interactions. The device monitors their gaze behavior to determine which social information the children are looking at and which they are not.
