Around 1 billion people worldwide are affected by sleep apnea. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airways Pressure) devices are an important treatment method, but many patients find them difficult to use. Researchers in Chicago have now developed mHealth technology with a novel adherence metric that can track treatment progress, individual needs and engagement in sleep apnea treatment. In the future, the researchers want to find out how the use of the app compares to standard methods of monitoring CPAP use.
